Document Summary

Dating and mate selection is based on biology and evolution. Women tend to marry up, and men tend to marry down. Ex: women like older men, with higher income, and higher social status. When roles are flipped and men don"t have a lot of money or women have a lot of money. Results: stay single or they flip and women marry down while men marry up. Distance does make a difference- it is a challenge; relationships are more rewarding when closer together. Easier to maintain a relationship over distance than create one. Ex: humor, comfortable around him/her, they listen, give good advice, etc. Indirect rewards- person being at the right place at the right time. Ex: favorite team wins the game and now you like a person that was there with you due to euphoric feelings from before. A tendency to assume that if a person is physically beautiful, then they are also smart and funny and a good person.
