Chapters 5 and 6: dating, mate selection & cohabitation. Physical attractiveness and features preferred (makeup, muscles and money) Differences in preferences by dating or mating focus. When we meet people that we believe are attractive, so we automatically attach positive attributes to them. Born family/work/school parents arrange marriage marry leave home establish new family by having children repeat. Bundling for convenience and economics gave away to asking father for permission. Bundling is putting a couple in the bed and wrap them up so they are forced to talk all night without any lust. Women has more contact with men and decreased parental control. Attraction and love more important for marriage verses just money. Historical to contemporary woman pays for wedding. Timing and sequencing of everything has changed dramatically today. The time we spend outside of marriage is greater, but the desire of intimacy is the same. People focus more on education and marry later in life.
