Physically primed to socially interact with caretakers: a healthy to term baby is typically born physically primed to socially interact with caretakers. Babies are born with the abilities to suck us into caring for them. : those born prematurely, with disorders, and born without the physical cues or abilities to force us to bond with them. They create barriers with caretakers which makes caretakers have to work harder to try and bond with them. It is our job to understand those babies needs and to fulfill those needs. Theory of primary and secondary emotions: two primary emotions are anxiety and joy. *anxiety: babies have a need whether to eat or sleep They express their anxiety by crying and fussing. Our job is to differentiate their emotions and reduce their anxiety, this is the key to communication between caretakers and babies. *joy: babies feel joy when their needs are fulfilled.
