Document Summary
Mechanical/physical: altering of rock material without changing its chemical composition, 3 most important processes. Chemical: altering of rock material that changes chemical composition in the process. Happens in either rapid movements or gradual increments. Variables: steepness of slope, level of instability of the rock, vegetation levels, moisture content level. Any agent other than gravity moves material. Depositional landforms: landforms carved into new shapes by erosion, new landforms in placed where erosion transports materials (deposits materials) Rapid movement of soil and rocks that occurs after heavy rain in normally dry areas. Create many different types of erosional and depositional landforms including: found in various highland regions around the world today, only remain in greenland and antarctica today, u-shaped valleys, hanging valleys. Wave action erodes the shore and carries material for deposit elsewhere. Longshore current pushes material one direction parallel to the shore. Energy is concentrated on headlands (where harder rock is found) and diminished in bays.
