Paleolithic era ended roughly 10,000 years ago with the ice age, and started the neolithic era (new age) Neolithic era: misleading idea: things happened really suddenly. Geologic period when agriculture and settled life began. Spread rapidly in relative terms but in actual years it took some thousands of years. Originated in the middle east (fertile crescent, mesopotamia, the foothills of the fertile crescent)
