Ahmad shah: last qajar ruler from 1909-1925, was completely held in place by the influence of foreign powers within iran. It was he, due to his own wishes and forces beyond his control, who gave the oil concession to the british. Britain used country as a way to attack russia and led to iran being a springboard for war: anglo-persian oil company: british company founded in 1908 due to discovery of large oil field. It was managed exclusively by foreigners, and iranians were only employed as laborers. Thought to be one of the chief thieves of iranian economy and didn"t allow for enough economic gains for iranian citizens. People thought it was simply a float to the british economy: anglo-russian entente: agreement between britain and russia about how disputed central asian territories would be mapped. British influence and russian influence were both exerted over iran without the knowledge or input of the iranian government at the time.
