Document Summary
Rm: repetition maximum - the maximum amount of weight that an individual can lift in a single exercise. It is generally advised to warm up with 60% of this rm when resistance training. We want high intensity because it recruits different types of muscle cells than low intensity. Is done in relation to heart rate (for intensity) Treadmill exercise should be done at 60% - 90% of hrmax. Professionals can do higher more easily, beginners should work from the lower end of the recommended heart rate. Every person responds differently to exercise due to their genetics. Genetics influence the composition of our muscles (percentage of type i and ii) Proteins in the muscle produce the force (actin and myosin - contractile proteins) Increases synthesis of actin and myosin (more protein synthesis) Proteins are made of amino acids, resistance training increases delivery of amino acids to muscles. Type iix muscles are converted to type iia.
