Cells and their parts organisms are made of one or more cells. basic functional/structural unit of life. They respond to external environment e. g. stimulus like light, touch, chemical response. All cells derive from the division of preexisting cells and pass on hereditary information. Unicellular made up of one type of cell. Multicellular made up of more than one type of cell. The phylogenetic/evolutionary tree of life shows relationship between organisms and tells you the timing e. g. fungi and animals are more closely related than animals and plants. Lateral flow of genes - ring of life is a better model. All cells have a central area with dna (if membrane-bound then it"s called a nucleus) Have organelles - parts of cells that do specific functions. Cytoplasm stuff between the dna and the cell membrane. Cytosol liquid matrix (specifically for the liquid part of the cytoplasm) Cytoskeleton protein strands (maintain structural integrity of the cell/movement of the cell and within the cell)
