Entail the cognitive mechanism that control and regulate the contents of working memory. Construction workers are outside of class and the child is able to filter out the distracting information. A child must rather play with her friends but knows she needs to practice so she learns to delay. A child is doing a sand castle and a child accidently knocks it down. The child doesn"t get upset he just does it over again. Working memory, inhibitory control, and mental flexiabity (switching between class in a classroom)- they working together to do executive functions. Example- focusing in class when you have your computer out. Social skills- if you are really impulsive and low emotion control can effect this. Lateral surface implicated in regulating cognitive aspects of behavior. Medial surface implicated in regulating both cognitive and emotional aspects of behavior. Orbital surface implied in regulating mostly emotional and social aspect of behavior.
