Gap in age at which old age begins. Young adult respondents (ages 18- 29) believe that the average person becomes old at age 60. Middle- aged respondents (30-49; 50- 64) put the threshold closer to 70. Seniors (65 and above) say that the average person does not become old until turning 74. How old we are vs. how old we feel. The older people get, the younger they feel. European national data samples (baird et al. , 2010) Stable until later age 70, drops more in 80s. Objective factors matter more towards end of life. The set point perspective maintains that personality determines happiness levels. But personality traits may change together with well-being indicating that personality is more than a set point (hill et al. , 2012) Overall life satisfaction and satisfaction in specific domains (mcadams et al. , Specific domains: health, income, housing, spouse or partner, job, social life, and the amount and use of leisure time.
