Human faces - remember a bunch of faces. Repeated information - heard multiple times--> must be important. Most people just rehearse in short term memory. Need to convince brain that it is important in order to remember. Suggests that human brain is capable of remembering everything. Experiences - doing something are easy to remember. Start studying right after lecture, not night before exam. After reviewing material, replicate verbally or in written form. Sometimes traumatic memories are too strong --> ptsd - highly emotional, higher probability of going into long-term. Block memory from consolidating by blocking norepinephrine beta receptors. Recalled long-term memories must be reconsolidates --> allowing beta blockers to erase. -> block ability for it to get into long-term memory. Give someone a beta blocker to treat ptsd. Combination of ___ mental abilities and extraodinary memories. Prior to practice, memory span is normal (7 digit) After 2 years of practice, --> increased to 84 by numbers-architectural detail association.
