Some behavioral test methods for studying memory: failure could not be ruled out. With weak shock, performance is near the floor , making it difficult to see a memory impairment. With strong shock, performance is near maximal, making it difficult to see a memory enhancing effect. Researchers manipulate the strength of shock in ia training to detect manipulations impairing or enhancing memory. In fear conditioning, after the rat has explored the conditioning context, an auditory cue (tone) is presented for about 15 seconds. Rats are then tested for their fear of the context place where shock occurred and later for their fear of the tone. Shocked rats display more freezing than rats that were not shocked. Some behavioral test methods for studying memory: The radial arm maze can be used to test both working and long-term.
