After hatching, geese will immediately follow mom around. Lorenz showed that incubator-hatched geese imprint on the first moving stimulus they see. Lorenz-imprinted gosling will prefer him over their biological mom. Goslings will even imprint to inanimate objects, like a tethered ball, a pair of boots, or even a football. Caused by mismatched binocular vision early in life. Dominant eye patched for prescribed intervals allows weak eye vision to improve. Awarded nobel (1981) for discovering the neural basis of amblyopia - it"s located in primary visual cortex. Tracer injections reveal the mixing of visual pathways from the contralateral and ipsilateral eye. Neural tracers trace out the circuitry that connects the eye to the brain in the visual cortex.
