(rt) Invades immune system cells and leaves body vulnerable to opportunistic infections (infections by other pathogens: aids = immune cells are at low levels. Because it"s hard to find drug that attacks reproduction and doesn"t interfere with host"s metabolism: limited successes: with genital herpes, azt and cocktails for aids, viral encephalitis.
