Look at a certain time frame such as the first 10 seconds: behavior occurs over a long period of time, solution: self-observation. Since students know they are being observed, they may be highly reactive: behavior does not occur in public, solution: participant observation. Not often seen in research: getting involved in order to observe otherwise covert behavior. Is writing papers for a class fun: multiple choice questions, forced-alternative, likert-type scale, multiple choice questions, ask participants to choose one answer, answer choices should be exhaustive (don"t skip groups and account for all possibilities). For example, if a question asks which continent you live in, be sure to list all the 7 continents: answer choices should be mutually exclusive (not overlapping).
