Sender - person who transmits the message. Channel - method used to deliver the message. This model recognizes additional contexts that affect communication. Social context - refers to social norms that guide communication choices in certain situations. But with friends, you may interrupt them & talk more freely. Ex: may communicate at a distance (ex: email) if you have a weak relationship w/ other person. Cultural context - learned behaviors that refer to the learned behaviors of a specific culture. Ex: some cultures prefer direct communication, while others are more indirect. But most we engage in communication w/o much thought.
