Ex: verbal abuse, regulatory harassment (filing suit), reputation and network harassment (spreading rumors), simple unrelenting persistence of pursuit. Hyperintimacy: excessive or exaggerated expressions of courtship and attempts at closeness. Silver linings: a greater personal resilience, confidence, or trust in friends and family. If pursuit is unwanted by the person being pursed: a form of obsessive relational intrusion. There are 5 strategies to respond to unwanted pursuit. We are encultured to not be rude and incompetent, and engage when others seek to communicate with us. Both partners truly wanted to remain friends despite the asymmetry. Relationship had a solid foundation of openness and honesty prior to the disclosure.
