Anxiety: refers to feelings of apprehension, fear, and uneasiness. Anxiety disorders that are inherently interpersonal: agoraphobia. Fear of being out in public where escape might be difficult or embarrassing while having a panic attack. Examples of places: bus, crowd: social phobia. Fear of situations where you are likely to be criticized by other people. Fear they are going to embarrass themselves. People who are really shy, have a hard time opening up to others. Other reluctant to participate in interpersonal communication. Cognition: thoughts, cognition, things we think when we have that anxiety. Physiological: body systems, shortness of breath. Behavior: get out of the situation, not be seen by other people, avoid going to any place that might trigger anxiety. Emotion: being nervous, tense, sick to our stomach, depressed, hopeless. Problematic social skills: other lack social skills necessary to have competent communication. Because they may never have opportunities to develop those skills.
