Document Summary

Organisms with favored traits survive better and reproduce more than those without these traits and thus leave more offspring (this leads to adaptive evolution ). No- usually go for easy targets (maximize energy per time capturing). Therefore, they are a source of evolution. f(cid:450)olution (cid:265)an pla(cid:457) a (cid:264)i(cid:304) role in enem(cid:457)- (cid:450)i(cid:265)tim intera(cid:265)tions (cid:264)e(cid:265)ause o(cid:303) stron(cid:304) sele(cid:265)tion. Over time, the # of epidemics that killed off rabbit population decrease (% mortality in rabbit population is going down) because the population is evolving resistance to the virus. We can also see evolution in the virus (predator) as well. The virus is very lethal and rapidly kills the rabbit, but in order for the virus to survive it must be passed on to a healthy rabbit (must be transmitted before the host dies or game over for virus). But since the rabbit population is rapidly declining, the chances of bumping into a healthy rabbit is slim.
