King hussein called britain and us state department, us was concerned that the soviets were going to expand (cold war logic) This is how israel became a strategic partner for the united states, because they got the soviets to withdraw. The world after the cold war breeds strategic uncertainty. Iraq- are theyer new possibilities for local and regional gains now that the cold.
