Why violence happens (or not: i3 model, instigating triggers: con ict, aggression, stressful events, impelling in uences & inhibiting in uences: 4 types of in uences, distal family of origin, previous relationships, dispositional personality and temperament, relational attachment and/or con ict styles; relationship satisfaction and commitment, situational sobriety, presence of others. Types of couple violence: violent resistance: response to the violent control of an it partner; battered spouse syndrome , mutual violent control: both partners engage in violent behavior in attempts to control one another. It: in practice it"s dif cult to differentiate scv and it small acts of violence, intimidation and coercion (scv) can introduce big power imbalances to the relationship especially when enacted asymmetrically, undermined the perceived severity of violence in the legal system.
