Persistent depressive disorder (pdd) formerly dysthymia: characterized by sx of depressed mood that occur on most days and persist for at least one year. At least 2 somatic/cognitive sx: symptoms less severe but more chronic than mdd, poor emotion regulation. Constant feelings of sadness, being unloved, low self-esteem, self- deprecation, anxiety, irritability, anger & temper-tantrums: children w/ mdd and pdd together are more severely impaired than children w/ just 1 or the other.
