Document Summary

Research strategies ie, description, correlational, experimental, non-experimental, and quasi-experimental. The general approach and goals of a research study. Not the same as research designs: more concerned with how to implement a research strategy e. g. , between vs. within subjects, number of variables to include, etc. Data is usually in the form of averages or percentages. Consistent patterns are easier seen in a scatterplot. It describes a relationship bit does not explain it. One (or more) of the variables differentiates the groups. The second variable measured obtains a score for each individual. Answers cause-and-effect questions about the relationship between 2 variables. Demonstrates a relationship btwn variables - but does not attempt to explain it. Both are designed to demonstrate that a relationship exists btw 2 variables. Both do not try to explain the relationship. Nonexperimental compares 2 or more groups or scores. Use similar statistical techniques (e. g. , t-tests, analysis of variance, chi-square tests)
