Document Summary
Developmental research designs: basic types, advantages and disadvantages of diferent designs. They evaluate changes in afect, cogniion, and/or behavior related to changes in a person"s chronological age. They are oten used by developmental psychologists, and they are called this because they are looking at something over ime. Special case of quasi-experimental designs where age is the paricipant variable. We can"t manipulate age, we are just looking for relaionships between age and other variables. This research design is looking at age, but we are looking more at the ime. (ex. How does intelligence change with age: hypothesis: intelligence increase steadily during childhood/adolescence, levels of in adulthood, and decreases in old age. This involves selecing diferent paricipants from each of a number of age groups. The groups that we select that make up the cross-secions, are created based on the age of paricipants at the ime of the study.
