Cells of the type join together using intercellular substances to form tissues. One or more tissues come together to form organs. Various organs can cooperate together for a common purpose to form organ systems. Organ systems combine together to form whole organism. Some organ systems that are related to nutrition. Digestive- absorbs nutrients and the unabsorbed foodstuffs turn into waste. Cardiovascular- consists of heart, blood vessels, and blood. Right side of heart pumps blood to lungs (deoxygenated in oxygenated out) (gas exchange) to and then back to the heart. Left side of the heart pumps blood to all other parts of the body and back again veins. Blood vessels that leave the heart are arteries, while vessels that return are. The business end of the cardiovascular system are the capillaries. This is where the exchange of nutrients, oxygen, and waste products occur b/w the blood and the cells. Respiratory- gas exchange in lungs (co2 out, o2 in)
