Life expectancy- the average predicted length of time from birth to death. Normal aging- certain biological aging processes that seem time related rather than being a function of disease, injury or stress. Pathological aging- a decrease in functioning caused by disease, illness, injury and other factors. Physical disabilities that limit mobility are increasing among middle aged americans. Problems such as difficulty standing for two hours, stooping, walking a quarter mile, or climbing 10 or 15 steps without resting. Such situations require several modifications and changes in daily routine. Includes life planning financial planning and thoughtful considerations. Physical activity- a key to successful aging. Exercise lowers the risk of diabetes, heart disease and stroke in the elderly.
