Intracellular uid - 2/3 of all body uids. Electrolytes - capable of conducing electricity anions - negatively charged cations - positively charged measured in meq/l. Movement of a solvent from an area of lesser solute concentration to an area of greater solute concentration. Solvent > liquid holding another substance in a solution. Rate of transfer depends on temperature, concentration of solutes, and electrical charges. Hypertonic - uid with higher concentration than plasma. Isotonic - uid with same concentration as plasma. Hypotonic - uid with lower concentration than plasma. Keeps uid in intravascular area by pulling water from the interstitial back into the capillaries.
