Britain wants to punish boston and massachusetts. Massachusetts government act: limits ability to govern themselves. Administration of justice act: trials of royal officials had to take place in great britain. Quartering act: allows governors to house troops in empty buildings. Quebec act of 1774: gives political liberty to all catholics living in canada. Declaration of resolves: continental association, committees of public safety. Suffolk resolves: rejects massachusetts government act, sets up alternative government called massachusetts provincial congress, illegal government in all of ma except for boston. Lexington and concord, april 1775: militia has arms hidden in lexington but are able to move them before british find them, british move to concord to try and find supplies, british redraw to charleston, south carolina. 2nd continental congress: may 1775-march 1781.
