Mitotic cells- parent cells produce a new generation of cells, or multi-celled individuals like themselves. Cellular reproduction involves mitosis followed by cytokinesis. Parents must provide daughter cells with hereditary instruction encoded in dna, and enough metabolic machinery in cytoplasm to start up their own functional activity. A centromere is where sister chromatids attach. Each duplicated chromosome is known as a sister chromatid.
