He also wants to go back to ithaca where he will have control of his country and his life as oppose to being held as a helpless captive because he is someone who feels most comfortable when in control. Book 6: athena appears to nausicaa, the daughter of the king of the phaeacians, in a dream: she should wash her household"s laundry, odysseus is asleep very close to where she goes to wash.
