BIO 310 Lecture Notes - Lecture 7: Cell Membrane, Exocytosis, Endocytosis
Document Summary
Exocytosis - plasma membrane and vesicle fuse and release the contents outside the cell. Endocytosis - plasma membrane creates vesicle to bring materials surrounds the cell into the cell. Vesicles that form on the golgi and go as an endosome. Structured with cargo in the middle, attached to a cargo receptor. Adaptins are media compounds between receptors and the clathrin coat. Individual clathrin molecules shaped in a triskelion. Contains 3 heavy chains and 3 light chains. Globular tips bind to adaptins, which interact with cargo membrane chains. Interact with other triskelions through their light chains. Found in vesicles going from the golgi apparatus to the er. Sec23 and sec 24 act as adaptor proteins in the presence of sar1-gef. Mediates interaction with sec 13 and 31 which bind to create the copii. Activates sar1 protein and inserts cargo receptor into the membrane. Always found in vesicles budding from the er going to the golgi body.
