What are they: participants, code by interlocutors, channel, setting, form or genre, topics and attitudes. Communicative events: formal and informal, court room communicative event is formal. Informal forms are constrained by cultural norms of rights, rights to speak and ways of speaking. Informal behavior: always assumed to be natural. It is actually conditioned by our culture: not different from the court proceedings, communicative events in this category are only noticed when they are violated by participants. Setting as a component: provisions of arenas of action for communicative events, where we define, invoke and restrict certain behaviors. It falls within a continuum of formality and informality: these continuum are influenced by direct imposition or by what we will consider as natural but still influenced by unwritten rules of culture. Aspects of formality: these have generally a universal character, consistency of co-occurrence choices some seriousness appropriate to the occasion, not.
