Different and abnormal mean the same thing. There is a normal curve, so there are people who are on both sides of the spectrum and in the middle. Psychiatrist is trained in how the body works with mental illness biologically and they prescribe medication. Clinical psychologists spend more time with patients than psychiatrists. Stigma associated with substance abuse and addiction. But, substance abuse carries less of a stigma compared to anxiety. Substance abuse can be comorbid with anxiety. As a child, can be helped early on and things could be corrected earlier. People tend to want to rely on other"s personal experience. People are very unaccepting of anything that affects the brain. Not a stigma for people who do not produce enough insulin and have diabetes, but there is a stigma for people who do not produce enough serotonin and have a mental illness. Statistical norms how common or rare it is in the general population.
