Look past action (often a mistake or bad decision) to find the employee"s emotion and motivation. Don"t just deal with the actions, but identify and handle underlying issues like feeling marginalized or having no sense of meaning. Support without seeking credit and don"t feel it is a remarkable decision. Allow employees to make decisions and take charge, when it"s better. Don"t care about control, and are seen as a person who helps. Allow employees to learn their own lessons: work with employees to figure out what went wrong and help them correct the mistake. Let employees voice and develop their own ideas. Go home feeling they could have done better: seth gordon: difference between leaders and managers. Mangers: figure out what they want done and get people to do it.
