PT 503L Lecture Notes - Lecture 5: Upper Guelders, Lumbar Vertebrae, Biceps
Document Summary
Shoulder observation: observe gross movements for symmetry and range of motion, flexion/ extension, abduction/ adduction, internal rotation/ external rotation, observe scapulohumeral rhythm, total arc of motion for shoulder forward flexion is 180 : Scapular rom = 60 versus glenohumeral rom = 120 . Prom: shoulder flexion (0-180 ): patient position: supine with the knees flexed to stabilize the lumbar spine. Normal end-feel: shoulder complex flexion is firm due to ligamentous/ muscular stretch. Prom: shoulder extension (0-60 ): patient position: prone with the face turned away from the shoulder being tested. Shoulder is positioned in zero degrees of abduction, adduction and rotation. Normal end-feel: shoulder complex extension is firm due to ligamentous/ muscular stretch. Normal end-feel: shoulder complex abduction is firm due to ligamentous/ muscular stretch. Prom: shoulder internal (medial) rotation (0-70 )/external (lateral) rotation (0-90 ): patient position: supine with the shoulder in 90 degrees of shoulder abduction and the forearm perpendicular to the supporting surface.
