Document Summary

The role of the respiratory system is to get rid of co2 and take in o2. In the respiratory system, first there is exchange between the atmospheric air and the air in the lungs. Then there is exchange between that air in the lungs to the blood in the capillaries and then further there"s exchange between the blood in the capillaries and the cells. So this whole thing makes up the respiratory system. Among all the systems we are going to study this is the only one which is under our control. Although it happens subconsciously but we have the ability to control the respiratory system to a certain extent. The steps involved in respiration: figure23. 1: pulmonary ventilation or breathing, external respiration, internal respiration, functions of the respiratory system fig. 23. 2 if you look at the functions of the respiratory system.
