Schizophrenia: disorder involving severe cognitive disturbance and disorganization of thought. Delusions: distorted or bizarre beliefs that have no basis in reality. Delusions of grandeur: distorted sense of own importance: i am jesus , i am an important member of the government . Delusions of persecution: distorted sense of paranoia: the government is watching me , people are trying to kill me . Hallucinations: false perceptual experiences such as seeing, hearing, feeling things that are not there: most common is auditory (hearing voices) but can involve other senses. Disorganized thinking, emotions, and behavior: fragmented thoughts, incoherent speech, inappropriate behavior, flat emotions (except for anger) Personality disorders: believed to result from personalities that develop improperly during childhood. All personality disorders begin early in life. People with these disorders have a very hard time in relationships with others.
