Disturbances in thinking, emotions, behavior, and perception. Delusions- false beliefs, individuals refuse to accept their falseness. Delusions of persecution- this belief that others are trying to hurt them, not always physically. Delusions of grandeur- belief that individuals are powerful or special, may be tasked with special missions to complete. Delusions of influence- belief that individual is being controlled by some external force. Can occur across all five sensory symptoms. Feeling things, tasting things and seeing things are more rare. Can have trouble accomplishing these things like getting ready in the morning. Individuals can sit in one position for an extended amount of time, lack of movement and rigid body posture. Functioning that is below the level that is normal for that individual. Duration: disturbance for at least 6 months (at least one month of characteristic symptoms notes above) Exaggerations or distortions of normal thoughts, emotions, and behavior.
