Person with a mood disorder experiences emotions that are extreme. Typically, people stay in an average, they can have really bad and good times but generally stay in one area. Everyone has a range in their emotional expression but these disorders are due to extreme fluctuations. Too severe for circumstances or no apparent external cause. There seems to be no cause for the person"s reaction. Twice as common in woman as men. At least a two-week period when the person is experiencing five or more of these symptoms. Severe mood swings between major depressive episodes and manic episodes. Sometimes these swings can lost for a long time, three or fewer episodes in a year. Manic episode (period of at least one week) Grandiosity (mary thinking she could control the weather) Excessive involvement in pleasurable (but risky) activities. Some people find they are very productive during this time and. Increased activity this can be a barrier to getting treatment.
