Note that the Annotated Bibliography is not an “essay” at all. It is a completely different genre.
There is no introduction, conclusion etc. It is a series of brief commentaries on academic
sources.
The sources and their corresponding annotations ought to be arranged in alphabetical order, like
a references list.
Allow me to highly recommend making an appointment with a librarian for help
with your Annotated Bibliography. An hour or two with a librarian will be well
worth your time!
Part II Annotated Bibliography (10%)
1st draft (2%) due Sunday October 29 at 11:00pm on Canvas
Final draft (8%) due Thursday November 2 at 11:00pm on Canvas AND Turnitin.com
From the syllabus: The Annotated Bibliography (7+ sources) should include the main points
of each source; how it will be useful to you for your essay; how the source reflects, contradicts,
or supports the other sources on the list. The list must be prepared in APA style. (135-200
words for each annotation.)
For each source (7+) in your Annotated Bibliography, you must:
Create a proper, complete APA Reference
At least four (4+) of the sources should have been located using the PSU website and
library.
SPECIAL: One source should be NOT of academic quality, just for this assignment. Use
this one annotation to explain why it is NOT of academic quality. (Of course, do not use
this source for your Problem/Solution Essay.)
Be sure each annotation is 135-200 words long.
Please use proper page formatting; submit an MS Word doc.
Take a look at the Annotated Bibliography Mini Example posted on Canvas; your version
should look like this.
The “similarity index” from Turnitin.com ought to be <16%.
Each annotation should deal with most or all of the following. Variety should
be evident:
o Summarize what the main idea(s) of the source is/are.
o Explain how the source benefits or fits into your research.
o Explain why the source is of “academic quality”.
o Compare/contrast it with another of your sources.
o Discuss how the source may be related to a possible solution.
o Tell who the author is and why their point of view is to be valued.
