PHI 115 Lecture 3: 2/6/17 - Abortion Overview (1/3)
Document Summary
Abortion is the deliberate termination of a human pregnancy. Within the united states, the issue has been an extremely controversial issue, especially after the roe v. wade court case in 1973 and also recently in the political climate of the u. s. Abortion is included in philosophy because it asks several questions about life. When we look at the morality of abortion through a deep, philosophical lens, we must remove the political labels of pro-choice, pro-life, liberal, and conservative. The textbook authors do an extremely good job in just explaining abortion rather than forcing you to choose a side. There are some people, even some which are non-religious, which might morally object to abortion because they believe all of life has some value, no matter at what stage it is. Religious people believe god creates human life and abortions are not right because we are going against.
