Angela davis is an american political activist and was extremely involved in politics and has had quite an extensive life filled with activism. The entire mission of the essay is to get rid of the idea that we should only focus on one prison-like substitute in order to get rid of the current prison system. We focus way too much on trying to find only one substitute to this issue of prisons, but this is the wrong way to think of it as. It is extremely important to remember that the prisons we have now are not the same when they were created they were never meant to become a superior form of punishment. The way we think about prisons nowadays has drastically changed and now, whenever a person commits a crime, the first reaction is to throw them into jail, but it wasn"t like that before.
