In order to maintain diameter of helix, purine must pair w/ a pyrimidine. Q: how does dna work: our cells (cid:498)read(cid:499)/(cid:498)interpret(cid:499) bases within dna to create everything inside our bodies, ex: proteins are found throughout our bodies & have various functions. 1 amino acid is created from a sequence of 3 bases. A change of 1 base could create a different amino acid: hemoglobin, protein found in red blood cells, responsible for moving oxygen through body. Q: what is the difference between glutamate & valine: glutamate: {g-a-g, valine: {g-t-g, both have 1 base, dna facts: 3 billion bases total (from 46 chromosomes) An exact copy of dna is found in almost every cell in the body: exception: female eggs & male sperm, dna in skin = dna in blood. If all dna in a single cell was unwound, it would stretch 6 feet. 99. 9% of all human dna is the same.
