Document Summary

The dynamic cell: cells need energy (atp, cells need to change molecules from one form to another (enzymes, cell need to move stuff around (transport) 2 types of energy: potential energy= stored energy, ex. food, bow in arrow, kinetic energy= energy of motion, ex. airplane, person riding a bike. Two laws of thermodynamics: energy- 1st law of thermodynamics- energy cannot be created or destroyed, but it can be changed from one form to another. Also known as the conversation of energy: entropy - 2nd law of thermodynamics- energy cannot be changed from one form to another without a loss of usable energy. Entropy measure of the amount of disorder or randomness in system. Unorganized (spread throughout the space) = high disorder=high entropy. Atp- is the energy source for the cell. Enzymes bring molecules together and cause them to react with one another.
