Document Summary

The nervous system can be divided into: central nervous system (cns) Composed of the brain and spinal cord: peripheral nervous system (pns) Communicaion lines between the cns and rest of body. Composed of all nervous structures outside of brain and spinal cord. Composed of structures as cranial nerves (originate from brain), spinal nerves (originate from the spinal cord), ganglia (groups of neutron cell bodies not in cns), and plexuses (intermingling of neuron cell process from ventral rami of diferent cord levels) A nerve is a collecion of nerve axons found in the peripheral nervous system. Basic structure of neurons: cell body- biosyntheic center of neuron, makes lots of stuf for other cells, if something happens to the cell body the neuron dies, processes, dendrite(s)- main recepive or main input regions of neuron. Neuron can have one or more dendrites: axon- conducing region of neuron, as it can generate acion potenials (nerve impulses) and transmit them.
