Men and women are so fundamentally different. Men are from mars, women are from venus . Sex: biological features that make a person a man or a woman (genitalia, facial hair) Gender: social arrangements that are built around sex categories. Gender: a set of stories that we tell each other and believe to separate one being from another. Women act a certain way that is different from men (ideas rooted in the brain; major structure) India: movement of hidras, transgender people who were born male. Supreme court legally acknowledged the ability to choose your own gender. Hijras were at first prejudiced and forced into prostitution. Wanted constitutional rights to choose gender after being prosecuted. It is interesting how it was only when she began to speak english that people were interested in what she had to say. It is the right of every human being to choose their gender . India respects hijras but some oppose it.
