Document Summary

Not same priorities as we would have in us culture: example: we wouldn"t have x-mss episode of modern family b/c ppl in other countries wouldn"t enjoy this bc its too a government regulation of media. Common dynamics within culture industries: defining features, most media cultures are public goods , high risk/unpredictable. Formatting/genre: shape audience expectation i"m a sci-fi fan audience is trained to expect/ look for certain genres, high production costs/low reproduction costs. Copy-write control: public good kind of product where the value of the product is not used up by the person who buys it. Loaf of bread is not a public good person buys and eats it and the value is all used up. Consumer patience is enemy of consumer product idea that if i wait long enough then i can have product for basically free. If the consumer waits then the companies profit goes down.
