I found this behavioristic theorizing discordant with the obvious social reality that much of what we learn is through the power of social modeling. I could not imagine a culture in which its language; mores; familial customs and practices were gradually shaped in each new member by rewarding and punishing consequences of their trial-and-error performances. Seeing another person reinforced or punished can have similar effects on the observer"s behavior. Expanded the social learning theory to include cognitive factors. Such as beliefs, expectations, and perceptions of self. How people develop social, emotional, cognitive and behavioral capabilities. Five possible outcomes: teaching new behaviors and attitudes, encouraging existing behaviors, directing attention, changing inhibition, arousing emotions. Resources, consequences of actions, other people, models, instruction, and feedback. Self-efficacy: involves judgments of capabilities specific to a particular task. Self-concept: global construct that includes many perceptions about the self. Based upon what we value in life.
