Document Summary

+in all organs artiers arterioles capillaries. Cardiac cycle: all the events associated with one heart beat. Whatever the right side of the heart is doing, the left side is doing. Blood enters atria nad flowing into ventricles for passive filling. Atria contract to fill ventricles (pressure in atria increases when it contract so blood enters ventricles) Atrioventricular vavles close so no blood goes into atria. Semilunar valves open when the pressure in the ventricles is greater than the pressure in the arteries. Atrioventricular valves open when pressure in ventricles is lower than pressure in atria. Semilunar valves close = dub and atrioventricular valves close lub. Most of heart is a contractile cells but there are small groups of cells in sa node and av node which can start action potentials. Sa node controlled by hormones and nervous system. Av node sends the action potential to bundle branches and then to purkinje fibers casuse ventricles to contract.
