Subculture because they"re still living in a main culture and well integrated into society, just acting in their own beliefs. Gender roles very traditional: male as initiator. Boys must ask father for permission to date daughter. Girls sign their purities to their fathers at a young: shows that they respect their fathers" opinions, father-daughter relationship is most important more than anything else relationship in the daughter"s lives. Sons aren"t expected to vow purity to their moms. Places a lot of pressure and guilt on children even at age a young age. Holds women back because they don"t use their own opinions to make decisions. Gender: biologically inherited: male/female, primary traits: reproductive organs, secondary traits: height, tone of voice, body hair, socially learned: masculine/feminine, behaviors and attitudes, opens and closes doors to property, power, and prestige. Opening and closing opportunities always favor men.
